Fish Trader
Sell your catch for emeralds at the Fish Market. You’ll need a Fish Trader table and a villager to claim it before you can start selling.
1. Craft the Fish Trader
Section titled “1. Craft the Fish Trader”At a crafting table, combine 5 Planks, 2 Carpets, 1 raw fish, and 1 Emerald in this pattern. Any wood planks and wool carpets work; Cod, Salmon, Tropical Fish, or Pufferfish can fill the fish slot.

2. Give a villager the job
Section titled “2. Give a villager the job”Place the table near an unemployed villager and let it claim the job site. Use an adult villager with no other profession; a nitwit or an already-employed villager won’t take this job.
Keep the trader close to its table. Right-click the villager to open the market — clicking the table itself doesn’t open a selling screen.

3. Sell your catch
Section titled “3. Sell your catch”- Put the mod fish or spare charms you want to sell into the selling grid.
- Check the emerald total shown for your selection.
- Press Sell to exchange the selected items for emeralds.
The four fish at the top are demand previews, not items for you to take or fill in. Your selling grid is underneath. Vanilla fish aren’t accepted in this grid; use ordinary Fisherman trades for those.
Get more emeralds from your fish
Section titled “Get more emeralds from your fish”A fish’s price depends on rarity, weight, and region. Heavier fish are worth more within their rarity tier. Nether and End species, including Overworld lava-fish variants, get a region bonus.
Look at the four demand fish before selling: those exact species pay double their normal price. The selection changes every 24,000 game ticks, about 20 minutes at normal server speed. The table displays the demand fish too.
Fish prices and charm resale values
These are the base fish values before weight, region, and demand adjustments. Charm resale is a fixed amount based on rarity; charm stats and market demand don’t change it.
| Rarity | Fish base value | Charm resale value |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 1 emerald | 2 emeralds |
| Uncommon | 3 emeralds | 7 emeralds |
| Rare | 8 emeralds | 19 emeralds |
| Epic | 23 emeralds | 55 emeralds |
| Legendary | 64 emeralds | 154 emeralds |
Fish weight scales the base from 0.5× for the lightest to 1.5× for the heaviest in that rarity. Nether and End species have double the base value. The resulting price is rounded to whole emeralds, with a minimum of one, then doubled again if the species is in demand.
For example, a Rare Overworld fish at the midpoint of its weight range sells for 8 emeralds, or 16 while in demand. Check the market’s preview total for your actual catch.
Sell from a fishing bag
Section titled “Sell from a fishing bag”You don’t have to unload every fish into the grid:
- Open your bag or tank and enable the Sell / gamble rarity toggles for the fish you want to sell. These are independent of the Auto-collect toggles.
- Put the container into the market’s bag slot.
- Check the total, which includes both the selling grid and eligible fish in the bag, then press Sell.
All three bag tiers are supported. Only enabled sale rarities on the Fish page are included. Disabled rarities and everything on the Gear page stay in the bag. To sell a stored charm, move it into the selling grid yourself.
Protected catches are excluded from both selling and Cointoss, even in the selling grid. Unlock them in a bag before selling. Putting a bag into the slot alone doesn’t sell anything.
What does Cointoss do?
Section titled “What does Cointoss do?”Cointoss uses the same selection as Sell, including eligible fish inside a bag:
- 50% chance: receive double the normal sale total.
- 50% chance: receive nothing.
The selected fish and charms are consumed either way. Use Sell when you want the guaranteed previewed payout.
Biggest wins and losses
Section titled “Biggest wins and losses”The server leaderboards track your largest single winning payout and your largest single lost stake, including selected bag fish. For a 100-emerald selection, winning records 200 emeralds; losing records a 100-emerald loss. These are personal maximum amounts, not cumulative earnings or losses. Historical tosses from before amount tracking began cannot be reconstructed.
If the market won’t open
Section titled “If the market won’t open”Clicking the table does nothing: talk to the villager that claimed it.
You see ordinary Fisherman trades: bring the trader back within 5 blocks of its assigned table and interact again. Stay close to the table yourself while using the market.
Nobody takes the job: check that the villager is unemployed and the table isn’t already claimed. Once a villager becomes a Fish Market Trader, its profession stays locked even if you remove the table.
If your inventory has no room for the emerald payout, the excess drops at your feet.
