Charm Station & Crafting

Charms give your fishing rod passive bonuses, such as faster reeling or a chance to save line. The Charm Station lets you make them and equip them on your rod.

Start with a Common Fish Catalyst. You can turn it into a random charm without gathering any extra ingredients.

At a crafting table, combine 5 Planks, 2 Gold Ingots, and 2 Amethyst Shards in this pattern. Any wood planks work.

Place it near your Fish Processor, which supplies the catalysts you’ll use.

A Fish Catalyst is an ingredient made by processing 3 fish of the same rarity, one in each input slot. Press Start on the Processor, then collect the catalyst.

Vanilla Cod, Salmon, Tropical Fish, and Pufferfish all work for a Common Fish Catalyst. For other tiers, use mod fish of the matching rarity. The Processor guide covers the full process.

The catalyst decides your new charm’s rarity: a Common catalyst makes a Common charm, a Rare catalyst makes a Rare charm, and so on.

  1. Open the Charm Station.
  2. Put 1 Common Fish Catalyst in the crafting catalyst slot. Leave both ingredient slots empty.
  3. Take the Common charm from the output. This consumes the catalyst.

Your charm gets one random stat. Hover over it to see which bonus it gives and its strength. No emeralds or additional materials are needed for this craft.

Place your Reed Rod or a higher-tier rod in the Charm Station’s rod slot. Put your charm into one of the rod’s available charm slots, then take your rod back out.

A Reed Rod holds 1 charm, Journeyman’s holds 2, and Master Angler’s holds 3. You can remove or swap charms at the station later; removing one gives it back to you.

Use Rod Configuration for lines and lures. Charms are managed here at the Charm Station. The Advanced Charm Station handles all four slots on Nether and End rods.

Want a specific bonus? For Common through Epic charms, add the two ingredients listed below alongside 1 catalyst of your chosen rarity. The first ingredient chooses the main stat; the second completes the recipe.

For example, 1 Common Fish Catalyst + 1 Redstone + 1 Redstone Block makes a Common Reel Speed charm. Put them in the station’s catalyst, ingredient, and second-ingredient slots, then take the result.

These are Charm Station recipes, not crafting-table recipes.

Bonus What it does First ingredient Second ingredient
Reel Speed Makes progress faster while reeling in the green phase. 1 Redstone 1 Redstone Block
Head Start Starts the minigame closer to landing the fish. 1 Gunpowder 1 Coal Block
Line Conservation Chance to avoid using a line on an attempt. 1 String 1 Lapis Block
Lure Conservation Chance to avoid lure durability loss after a catch. 1 Feather 1 Iron Block
XP per Catch Increases XP awarded for a successful catch. 1 Experience Bottle 1 Amethyst Block
Bite Speed Reduces the initial wait for a bite. 1 Sugar 1 Honey Block
Treasure Chance Chance for bonus treasure alongside a successful catch. 1 Gold Nugget 1 Gold Block
Double Catch Chance Chance for an extra copy of your catch. 2 Cod 1 Prismarine

For Double Catch, put both Cod in the same ingredient slot. Use a Prismarine block, not Prismarine Crystals or Shards.

The main stat is chosen by your ingredients, but its strength is random. Rare and Epic charms also get random side stats. Use the Fishing Setup Lab to see how your equipped charm totals affect fishing.

What changes with rarity and random crafting?
Charm rarity Bonuses on the charm
Common 1 stat
Uncommon 1 stat
Rare 2 stats
Epic 3 stats
Legendary 4 stats, or 3 stats plus a Legendary effect

A catalyst on its own makes a random charm at any rarity. Its main-stat pool depends on the tier:

  • Common / Uncommon: Line Conservation, Lure Conservation, Head Start, Reel Speed, or XP per Catch.
  • Rare: Bite Speed or Treasure Chance.
  • Epic / Legendary: Bite Speed, Treasure Chance, or Double Catch Chance.

Side stats can come from the wider stat pool. With the specific-ingredient recipes above, you can choose any listed main stat from Common through Epic, even if it isn’t in that tier’s random main-stat pool.

Use 1 Legendary Fish Catalyst with 1 of the ingredients below in the first ingredient slot. Leave the second ingredient slot empty.

Ingredient Effect What it unlocks
1 Blaze Powder Magma Fishing Fishing in lava.
1 Popped Chorus Fruit End Fishing Fishing at End fishing spots.
1 Rabbit's Foot Guaranteed Rare every 10th catch A Rare-or-better retry bonus for the next bite after ten successful catches.

A Legendary charm made this way has the chosen effect plus 3 numeric stats. A Legendary catalyst on its own gives 4 stats and no Legendary effect.

Despite its name, the Rare bonus uses up to five retries and can fall back to the original fish. It is spent on the next bite even if that fish escapes. The Lures guide explains the odds.

If you have two non-Legendary charms of the same rarity and main stat, you can combine them for another roll:

  1. Put one charm in the station’s catalyst slot and the other in its first ingredient slot.
  2. Leave the second ingredient slot empty.
  3. Take the new charm. Both old charms are consumed.

The result keeps their rarity and main-stat type, but rolls new strengths and, for Rare or Epic, new side stats. It may be better or worse than the originals.

To increase rarity instead, see the Sacrifice Altar’s Charm Upgrade Rite. For Legendary rerolls and more control over existing charms, continue to the Advanced Charm Station.

Combine 3 charms of the same rarity at a crafting table, one per slot, to make 1 Fish Catalyst of that rarity. This works at all five rarities, including Legendary; their stats do not need to match. The three charms are consumed. Use the catalyst for a new craft or upgrade, or compare this with selling the charms.
