Fish Processor
The Fish Processor is where a raw catch turns into something useful. Feed it fish and it produces one of two things:
- a Fish Catalyst — the upgrade material behind rod tiers, charms, the Sacrifice Altar, and Net Anchors, or
- a Fish Filet — the first step toward a region-buff Fish Bowl.
Almost every progression system in the mod starts here, so build one early.
Crafting the Fish Processor
Section titled “Crafting the Fish Processor”At a crafting table, combine 3 Iron Ingots, 5 Planks, and 1 Hopper. Any wood type works.

Place the Processor near your Rod Station so you can make upgrade ingredients without going far. It has three input slots and one output slot. No fuel is needed.
Fish Catalysts
Section titled “Fish Catalysts”A Fish Catalyst is an upgrade ingredient made from 3 fish of the same rarity. Start with vanilla fish to make your first Common catalyst:
- Put one raw fish in each of the three input slots. Cod, Salmon, Tropical Fish, and Pufferfish all count as Common, and you can mix them.
- Press Start. A newly placed Processor won’t run just because you filled its slots.
- Wait 5 seconds, then take the Common Fish Catalyst from the output.
For higher tiers, use three mod fish of the matching rarity. Species and region don’t matter: three Rare fish make one Rare Fish Catalyst, even if they’re different species.
While it works
Section titled “While it works”You can close the window while processing continues, as long as the block remains loaded and ticking. Use Pause to stop it. After a completed batch, it stays switched on for the next batch.
Clear the output before processing more fish. An item left there blocks further processing. If a batch won’t start, check the Start button, all three input rarities, and the output slot.
Processing times
Section titled “Processing times”| Fish rarity | Catalyst time | Filet time |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 5 seconds | 2.5 seconds |
| Uncommon | 10 seconds | 5 seconds |
| Rare | 20 seconds | 10 seconds |
| Epic | 40 seconds | 20 seconds |
| Legendary | 80 seconds | 40 seconds |
These times assume the server is running at its normal speed.
Fish Filets
Section titled “Fish Filets”To make food instead, put one fish into one input slot, leave the other two empty, and press Start. Collect the Filet from the output when it’s ready.
You can also put one fish in each of two slots to process two Filets at the same time. Their timers run separately, but they share the output: collect the first Filet to let the other finish. Keep the third input empty when filleting; three matching fish make a catalyst instead.
A Filet keeps the mod fish’s rarity and region. Vanilla fish make Common Filets with the Warm Ocean food effect. Cook your Filet in a furnace or smoker, then combine it with a Bowl to make a Fish Bowl.
What can I use catalysts for?
Section titled “What can I use catalysts for?”| Where | What the catalyst does |
|---|---|
| Rod Station | Common, Rare, and Legendary catalysts pay for the first three rod upgrades. Each also needs its listed material. |
| Charm Station | Sets a newly crafted charm’s rarity. All five catalyst tiers are useful here. |
| Advanced Charm Station | A catalyst alone makes a random charm. Paired with a matching-rarity charm, it rerolls the side stats for emeralds. |
| Sacrifice Altar | A Rare catalyst is part of the altar’s recipe. The Charm Upgrade Rite uses a catalyst matching the two offered charms and can produce a charm one tier higher. |
| Net Anchors | Install catalysts in order, from Common through Legendary, to increase storage and catch speed. |
Catalyst rarity determines a new charm’s rarity, but each other recipe has its own requirements. Nether and End Rods need Rod Cores and an Advanced Charm Core instead.
