The Sacrifice Altar
No GUI - right-click with a fish matching the altar’s current demand to pledge it, then send it a redstone signal once enough weight is offered.
Recipe: 2 Gold Blocks + 6 Polished Blackstone Bricks + 1 Rare Fish Catalyst → Altar. Place Gold Block / Blackstone Bricks / Gold Block across the top row, Blackstone Bricks / Catalyst / Blackstone Bricks across the middle, and Blackstone Bricks across the bottom.
The altar has two completely separate uses on the same block, never mixed together.
Fish Sacrifice
Section titled “Fish Sacrifice”The altar demands one specific rarity at a time, cycling over the day - only fish of that exact tier can be pledged, so a heavier catch can’t just walk in and clear a lower demand for you. Once the combined pledged weight clears that tier’s own minimum, a redstone signal starts the ritual: success rolls a reward from that tier’s own loot table, failure simply consumes the offering for nothing.
| Demand | Minimum weight |
|---|---|
| Common | 1.5 kg |
| Uncommon | 3 kg |
| Rare | 6 kg |
| Epic | 15 kg |
| Legendary | 30 kg |
Base success chance also depends on the demanded tier - bringing more than the bare minimum nudges the odds back up a little further, up to a cap:
| Demand | Base success chance |
|---|---|
| Common | 90% |
| Uncommon | 80% |
| Rare | 65% |
| Epic | 50% |
| Legendary | 35% |
Planning an offering
Section titled “Planning an offering”You can pledge up to five fish. Demand rerolls every 6,000 game ticks (five minutes at normal server speed); it can select the same rarity again. Epic and Legendary demands are announced to the server.
Each kilogram above the minimum adds 1 percentage point to success chance, up to 20 extra points, with a final ceiling of 95%. For example, a 25 kg Epic offering has a 60% success chance: 50% base plus 10 points for the extra 10 kg.
Fish count matters as well as weight: ordinary reward quantities scale from one fifth for one fish to the full quantity for five fish, with whole-item rounding. Emerald rewards instead use 115% of the pledged fish’s sale value. Bringing one heavy fish can meet the threshold, but it doesn’t give the same ordinary reward quantities as five fish.
A Generous Tribute
Section titled “A Generous Tribute”An Epic tribute weighing 30 kg or more, or any successful Legendary tribute (no extra weight needed there), has an independent 7.5% chance to also yield an Advanced Charm Core - on top of whatever the normal blessing already gave. That’s the same core needed for the Advanced Charm Station and for upgrading a rod past Master Angler into the Nether or End tiers.
Charm Upgrade Rite
Section titled “Charm Upgrade Rite”The altar’s other use: pledge exactly 2 Charms of the same rarity plus 1 matching Fish Catalyst, then send a signal. Success produces one Charm a rarity tier up; on failure, all 3 items are simply gone.
| Source rarity | Success chance |
|---|---|
| Common | 80% |
| Uncommon | 60% |
| Rare | 30% |
| Epic | 20% |
How the Upgrade Mixes
Section titled “How the Upgrade Mixes”The result isn’t just a copy of one parent Charm - its first stat rolls between the two charms’ own first stats (kept outright if they already match), and its second stat rolls the same way between the two seconds, independently. Whatever an Epic result’s 3rd required stat needs (or either slot above, if both rolls happened to collide into a duplicate) is filled with a fresh random stat instead. A Legendary result from an Epic pair never gets a Legendary Effect this way. To choose an effect, craft a new Legendary charm with the matching ingredient, or apply renamed Paper to an existing Legendary charm at the Advanced Charm Station.
